Argonne Rd. reopens following DUI crash
SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A crash in Spokane Valley knocked out power to more than 1,500 people and closed a major arterial early Tuesday morning.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, a man suspected of driving under the influence crashed into a power pole on N. Argonne near Wellesley Ave. just after 1:00 a.m.
The driver was not hurt. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
N. Argonne Road between Upriver Drive and Columbia Drive was closed because of the crash, but reopened around 7:15 a.m. Avista crews will remain in the area as they work to repair the damage to the power lines and the power pole.
The road closure caused the West Valley School District to announce a two-hour delay for all schools because buses were impacted by the back-ups.
The power outage was fully restored around 10:00 a.m.
