AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. — Police are searching for a man accused of posing as a car salesman, only to scam people in the Spokane area out of hundreds of dollars and take off with the car.

Airway Heights Police posted a picture of Joshua L. Cron, 30, to Facebook on Saturday, warning buyers to watch out.

According to police, Cron is accused of meeting with people, typically near Walmart, and letting them test drive a car before drawing up a bill of sale. Police said Cron then takes their cash, makes up a lie about needing to grab something from the car, then drives away with the cash in hand.

Police said victims have been scammed out of $500-$700 worth of cash. When they tried to get ahold of Cron, he blocked their number and refused to contact them.

Similarly, Spokane Police are searching for a car scammer accused of taking off with one man’s $900. They have not yet said if the scams are related.
