Airway Heights Police Dept. thanks community for crime tips

The Airway Heights Police Department is thanking people who send in crime tips after a citizen caught a burglar on camera.

Someone saw a man trying to break into a garage at 10:30 Saturday morning in an Airway Heights apartment complex. The witness started taping the incident and later got the license plate of his vehicle to give to police when the man drove away.

Police said he got into the garage, but the car inside was locked. He left empty-handed, but it was all caught on camera.

According to an online post, the suspect has been arrested before for stealing a motor vehicle and having a stolen vehicle.

The police department said they will request a warrant for his arrest in the recent incident. They went on to thank citizens who “are able to safely be our eyes and ears since we can’t be everywhere all the time.”

BURGLAR

Here is an example of why it never hurts to take as many steps as possible to keep your property securely locked up. A burglary suspect was caught on camera by a witness as he managed to break into a garage at 10:30 this morning at an Airway Heights apartment complex. Once he got the garage open, he went inside and headed for the driver-side door of the car inside. Fortunately the vehicle owner had been warned by apartment management when she moved in to always keep her car locked up, even when it&039;s in the locked garage. He quickly exited the garage empty-handed and left in another vehicle. The witness got the license plate of his vehicle and police have identified the suspect as someone who has been arrested several times for Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle. A warrant will be requested for his arrest in this case. We are always appreciative of citizens who are able to safely be our eyes and ears since we can&039;t be everywhere all the time. Crime fighting is a community-wide effort and we are grateful for the witness in this case! **Sorry for the sideways video
