Air quality could take a hit with regional wildfires
With wildfires burning across the region the Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency says the smoke from those fires could linger for the next few days.
The air quality in Spokane is listed at good but is predicted to decrease to moderate by Saturday, meaning unusually sensitive people should avoid heavy exertion outside.
Across the state the Department of Natural Resources is reporting 51 small fires across the northeast region of out state. The majority of those fires were caused by lightning and so far crews have been able to keep those fires under a few acres.
A fire is also burning on the Colville Indian Reservation and the DNR says that a Type 2 Incident Team has been called to help fight that fire. There are no reports yet regarding the size of that fire or whether or not it’s threatening any structures.
