A Look at the Manito Post Office
Driving down the South Hill, there’s been a familiar sight flying high at the Post Office on South Grand. Along side our American flag, the Manito Post Office flies the POW/MIA flag.
“Our maintenance guy would always put it up. He was a veteran. He’s retired now,” said Don Haskell, the Post Office’s Customer Service Supervisor. He continued, “The United States Post Service requires us to fly it on Veterans and Memorial Day, but we fly it year round.”
A month ago, the Post Office replaced their tattered old flags for new ones. All the United States Post Offices have access to hoist the POW/MIA flag, but the Manito Post Office has chosen to display it no matter the day of the week.
