A cool first day of fall before summer-like weather returns – Kris

Welcome to Fall!  The Autumnal Equinox was at 6:09 p.m. Thursday.

What we’re tracking

We are tracking a seasonable first day of fall with a return to more summer-like temperatures in the 7-day forecast.

4 Things To Know

Plan your Friday

Friday is the first full day of Fall, and it will feel like it, especially in the morning. We will start out in the 40s with some patchy fog. Enjoy partly sunny skies in the afternoon with high temperatures in the upper 60s and lower 70s. It would be a great day to beat the weekend crowds and enjoy some early apple picking at Green Bluff.  A breezy day might help to disperse some of the haze for local wildfires, but the Air Quality Index is expected to stay in the “moderate” range. With a sunset time of 6:48 p.m., expect temperatures to drop quickly as you head out to Friday night football.  BUNDLE UP!

Friday Forecast

Spokane and Couer d’Alene forecast

High pressure will begin building on Friday.  Expect a warming trend that will take us into the 70s with sunshine for the weekend. Early next week, temperatures will climb into the lower to mid-80s with blue skies.
