6 COVID-positive inmates from Coyote Ridge transferred to Airway Heights Corrections Center

AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. — Six COVID-positive inmates from the Coyote Ridge Corrections Center have been transferred to the Airway Heights Corrections Center.

In total, 13 inmates and four employees at Coyote Ridge have tested positive for the virus.

The Department of Corrections said four inmates have been transferred to the in-patient unit, and the Correctional Industries food factory is closed while Coyote Ridge undergoes a 10-day quarantine.

Earlier this month, the DOC designated the AHCC as a COVID-19 overflow site. Up until the Coyote Ridge inmates were transferred, it had not been used.

The overflow site was created to help mitigate the stress on resources, staff and those who are incarcerated.
