5-year-old dies in Royal City fire
ROYAL CITY, Wash. — A child was killed in an overnight fire in Royal City.
Firefighters responded the Coachman Mobile Home Park at 133 Catalpa Avenue around 3:00 a.m. Sunday. They found a manufactured home on fire.
Others who live in the home were able to escape but a 5-year-old girl became trapped inside, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. Grant County Coroner Craig Morrison will now conduct an autopsy and release the girl’s official cause of death.
Royal City police are investigating the cause of the fire.
Authorities did not say how many people were in the home when it caught fire or how old they are.
Two neighboring trailers were burned and a third was damaged.
