38 citations issued, 1 arrest made during Spokane River emphasis patrol
KOOTENAI CO., Idaho — Over the weekend, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office conducted an emphasis patrol along the Spokane River. This came after several complaints about speed violations and damaging wakes over the last few months.
At the beginning of the weekend, two teams ran the patrols, before bumping up to three teams by Saturday.
According to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, they carried out 79 boat inspections, with 38 citations issued for wake zone violations, speed, overloading, negligence, not carrying lifejackets, boating in restricted areas, and not using navigation lights. There was also an arrest made for Boating Under the Influence. There were no boating accidents on the Spokane River this weekend.
The Sheriff’s Office will be conducting another emphasis patrol on the Spokane River on the weekend of August 2.
