23-year-old woman dies in rollover crash on I-90 near Ellensburg

A crash blocks part of the I-90 lanes near Ellensburg.

ELLENSBURG, Wash. — A 23-year-old woman died early Tuesday from injuries sustained in a crash on I-90 Monday morning.

The driver, 48-year-old Alfredo Calderon Diaz, was driving eastbound on I-90 near Ellensburg when he overcorrected, causing the 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche to roll. Diaz was driving too fast for conditions, according to Washington State Patrol.

The passengers in the vehicle, 48-year-old Maria Calderon, 18-year-old Jovanny Calderon-Valencia and 23-year-old Karen Calderon-Valencia were ejected from the vehicle when it rolled. The two youngest passengers were both not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Karen Calderon-Valencia was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where she died from sustained injuries.
