2 missing Ponderosa Elementary students found safe
SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Authorities confirmed that two Ponderosa Elementary School students have been found and are safe after they left school grounds on Friday.
They were found near Spokane Valley’s Edgecliff Park, according to the Spokane Sheriff’s Office.
A spokeswoman for the district released the following statement:
“We are so thankful to report that the two students have been found and reunited with their families. We are grateful for the swift work of the Sheriff’s Office in safely locating them.”
A group of five students left during recess to head toward the Dishman Hills area, according to the Central Valley School District.
CVSD said three of the students were located, but two female students are still missing and the school district is concerned for their safety. The two students are named Addison Mercer and Marayja Claassen.

Mercer is 12-years-old, approximately five feet tall, 100 pounds and has brown hair. She was last seen wearing a brown hoodie and black pants.
Claassen is 11-years-old, approximately five feet tall, 120 pounds and has brown hair. She was last seen wearing a light green jacket, a pink t-shirt and a pink headband.
A search is now underway to locate the two young girls. Anyone with information about the two students is asked to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233 and reference case #10069862.
