15th anniversary of Space Shuttle Columbia disaster
SPOKANE, Wash. — Thursday marks the 15th year anniversary of the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster that killed seven astronauts. The deadly accident killed Cheney native and astronaut Michael Anderson.
The statue at the Spokane Convention Center stands in remembrance of him. Anderson was the payload commander and lieutenant colonel in charge of science experiments on the Columbia,
Anderson was posthumously awarded the Congressional Space Medal of Honor.
