MONROE, Conn. (WFSB) -

A woman from Monroe, Connecticut, is the latest million-dollar winner for Publisher's Clearing House.

Penny Pompa said she and her family fell on hard times. She even went to bed praying for a miracle.

For eight years, she, her husband and their four children lived at a home on Hillside Drive.

"I have Lyme disease and it was really hindering my work," Pompa said Tuesday. "So I had to not work anymore."

Pompa said her family was down to just one income. The mortgage and medical bills piled up. With four mouths to feed, she said she was looking for a break.

"Times were tough," she said. "Like every other American family that's struggling right now."

Pompa said she's a devout Christian and read the Bible before taking a nap. She said she called up the Book of Matthew and read about a miracle.

"So I just stood there, prayed about that and I said, 'God, I believe in you, your power and believe you can do all things,'" Pompa said.

When she woke up, it was to the sound of van doors slamming. The Publisher's Clearing House van, her miracle, had arrived.

"I went to the front door, and I opened the door and there were these people there with balloons, roses and a big check," said Pompa.

The surprise was caught on camera.

Pompa said she remembered entering the sweepstakes online and playing a few games. She never thought she'd win.

"It's really real," she said. "I can't believe it."

She said her prayers were answered and her bills could now be paid. Less than a week later, she was still on cloud nine.

"Literally, I felt like I was still asleep," Pompa said. "My feet still haven't touched the ground, really."

Pompa said her life won't change that much. She was looking to pay off her biggest bills, the mortgage and her medical bills, first.
