WSU's Ard Named First Team Pac-10

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Washington State first baseman Taylor Ard was named to the 2011 All-Pacific-10 Conference Baseball Team, Pac-10 Commissioner Larry Scott announced, Tuesday. In addition, outfielder Derek Jones received honorable mention.

A redshirt-sophomore, Ard currently leads the Pac-10 with 10 home runs and 55 RBI. He led Cougars with a .337 batting average, 17 doubles, a .577 slugging percentage, and 40 runs. In his last-seven Pac-10 games, he batted .500 (12-for-24) with seven doubles, three home runs and 12 RBI.

Jones batted .275 with eight home runs and 33 RBI. The junior collected 11 doubles, two triples and scored 39 runs. In conference play, he batted .317 with 14 extra-base hits, including a team-best five home runs, and knocked in 18.
