The Spokane Shock (13-4, 4-2) hosted the San Antonio Talons (9-8, 2-2) in a Week 18 Net10 Wireless AFL matchup, coming away with a huge 77-33 win at Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena in front of a crowd of 8,485.

San Antonio jumped out to an early lead as quarterback Rohan Davey connected with D.J. Stephens on a fourth down pass for a 39-yard touchdown which was followed up by a defensive stop by the Talons, holding the Shock to a four and out to set up a 16-yard field goal to take the 10-0 lead.

In a turn of events and in preview of what the night would bring, the Shock would respond on a touchdown pass from Erik Meyer to Kamar Jorden before Paul Stephens would record his first interception of the night. For the second straight possession, Meyer would connect with Jorden for the score to end the first quarter with the Shock leading 13-10.

For the last time in the contest the Talons would take the lead as Davey would connect with his receiver Dallas Baker for the 9-yard touchdown pass, putting the Talons on top 17-13 with 11:47 remaining in the half. On the ensuing kickoff Shock defensive back Terrance Sanders would take the kick 56-yards for the score, his 6th of the season, before the defensive onslaught by Spokane would begin.

Talon’s quarterback Rohan Davey would fumble the snap on San Antonio’s next possession which would be recovered for the Shock score by defensive lineman Diyral Briggs. Then, Paul Stephens would record his second interception of the night to set up a 2-yard score by Erik Meyer to give the Shock the 33-17 lead. After three unanswered Shock scores, San Antonio would respond with a long drive capped off by a short touchdown pass from Davey to D.J. Stephens to close the half out with the Shock leading 33-24.

The third quarter of play would prove to be all Spokane as the Shock would go on to post 30 unanswered points against the Talons. Meyer would connect with Adron Tennell on the opening drive of the half before the Shock would force a safety against the Talons offense and set up another touchdown pass from Erik Meyer to Kamar Jorden for their third connection of the night.

Shock linebacker Terence Moore would go on to intercept Talon’s quarterback Rohan Davey and return the pass for the Shock score, his second pick-six in as many games. Continuing to be under duress by the Spokane defensive line Davey would be intercepted again by the Shock secondary, this time by defensive back Terrance Sanders to set up the short touchdown run by quarterback Arvell Nelson who would enter the game in relief of Erik Meyer and put the Shock on top 63-14. Spokane defensive back Paul Stephens wasn’t finished quite yet, as he would go on to record his third interception of the night giving the Shock possession of the ball at the end of the quarter.

Shock quarterback Arvell Nelson would continue their offense’s possession into the fourth quarter and connect with Adron Tennell for the 8-yard score before again, the Talon’s quarterback would have issues with the snap and fumble near the goal line to give the possession back to Spokane after recovering the fumble in the end zone for the touchback.

For the last time on the night Adron Tennell would reach the end zone on the next Spokane possession, this time coming on a 2-yard run. As the Talon’s would continue their effort through the final seconds of the game, they would reach the end zone for the first and only time in the second half with 11 seconds remaining on a 9-yard touchdown run by Chad Cook before the Shock would go on to run out the clock and seal the 77-30 win.

Shock quarterback Erik Meyer would go on to complete 8 of 15 attempts for 153 yards and 4 touchdowns while adding one score on the ground in just 3.5 quarters of play. Arvell Nelson would enter in relief and connect on 6 of 8 attempts for one touchdown while adding a second score on the ground. Adron Tennell hauled in 6 receptions for 73 yards and two receiving touchdowns, he would also score once on the ground. Kamar Jorden would aid with 3 receptions for 51 yards and two touchdowns on the night. Paul Stephens led the Shock defense with three interceptions on the night while Terence Sanders and Terence Moore each recorded a pick. Sanders would also return his 6th kick return for a touchdown of the season.

Talons quarterback Rohan Davey completed 18 of 39 attempts for 214 yards and 3 touchdowns with 5 interceptions. D.J. Stephens led the San Antonio receiving effort with 7 receptions for 102 yards and 2 touchdowns.
