VIDEO: Chiefs snap losing streak, beat Blades 2-1
The Chiefs would carry that 2-0 lead into the first intermission, but Saskatoon answered quickly after the break as right wing Brett Stovin beat goaltender Eric Williams just 1:01 into the second. Both teams exchanged chances and turnovers for the remainder of the period but were held off the board. Williams stopped 27 of 28 shots on the night.
The Chiefs power play unit stretched their scoreless streak to three games, as Spokane failed to capitalize on four power play chances. The Blades – the league’s best power play unit at 28.1 percent – went 0-for-5 with the advantage, and gave up the two shorthanded goals. Both of Holmberg’s goals were assisted by Liam Stewart.
