Seahawks cut WR Mike Williams

The Seattle Seahawks have cut wide receiver Mike Williams after two up-and-down seasons that first reignited his career before injuries slowed him in 2011.
The Seahawks announced the release of Williams on Friday. In a statement, John Schneider says the team thanks Williams for his contribution over the past two seasons.
Williams was in the conversation for Comeback Player of the Year in 2010 after seeing his career rejuvenated by a second chance with Pete Carroll and the Seahawks. Williams found a connection with Matt Hasselbeck and led the Seahawks with 65 catches for 751 yards and two touchdowns. He was rewarded with a three-year extension that paid Williams $1.75 million in 2011 and was scheduled to make $3 million in base salary in 2012.
