Some fans hung a sign about racism from Fenway Park's Green Monster during the Boston Red Sox's 7-3 loss to the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday night.
In the middle of the fourth inning, a black banner with white lettering that read "Racism is as American as Baseball" was draped over the iconic left field wall.
The banner was quickly removed and had been brought into the park by five anti-racism protesters who spoke after the game with CSNNE.
One of the protesters, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said, "We see Boston continually priding itself as a kind of liberal, not racist city, and are reminded almost constantly that it's actually an extremely segregated city. It has been for a long time."
A Red Sox spokesman told The Associated Press that four people were escorted from the stadium and one said they were inspired by Black Lives Matter.
