SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University junior pitcher Arturo Reyes was selected in the 40th-round by the St. Louis Cardinals Saturday in the third day of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.
Reyes becomes the third Bulldog pitcher drafted this year. Junior Marco Gonzales and senior Tyler Olson were drafted on the first two days of the draft. Gonzales was also picked by the Cardinals in the first round while Olson was chosen by the Seattle Mariners in the seventh.

In 20 appearances, Reyes went 6-3 with a 3.79 ERA in 59.1 innings. Reyes made four starts and had a complete game effort Mar. 30 at Loyola Marymount University. Along with three saves, Reyes complete the year with 52 strikeouts and 16 walks.
For his efforts, Reyes was named All-West Coast Conference honorable mention.
