Shock QB Meyer unsure of playing future
Spokane Shock quarterback Erik Meyer has missed almost the entire season because of an injury. And despite an injury plagued professional career, Meyer says he's not sure if he's ready to hang up his cleats quite yet.
The former Eastern Washington star quarterback was knocked out of Spokane's season opener against Iowa with a concussion resulting from an extremely late hit. Back problems stemming from that hit have kept him out of every game since. But in a recent interview with Keith Osso of 700 ESPN, Meyer says he's been playing football for 21 years and can't justify making a decision after just two months. But he does know the risks he's facing if he comes back.
"To be honest with you, I would love to comeback," Meyer says. "It's just more of what if I get hit like that again and honestly, what if next time I don't get up? Or, what if next time is so bad what if something worse could happen? Those are kind of the thoughts I've had especially the last couple of seasons with the hits I've took."
