Pittsburgh Penguins center Jordan Staal has turned down a 10-year contract extension offer from the Penguins, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie.

Staal is entering the final year of a four-year deal that pays him an average of $4 million per year.

Staal, 23, would be eligible for unrestricted free agency at the end of the 2012-13 season.

He had 25 goals and 25 assists for the Penguins in 62 games in 2011-12. He also led Pittsburgh with six goals and three assists in the Penguins' first-round loss to Philadelphia in the playoffs.
