Indians drop ninth extra-inning game of season
Spokane, WA - The only thing that could slow down Connor Sadzeck Friday night was his pitch count. The tall right-hander had his best start of the season against the Volcanoes, twirling six no-hit frames while striking out four and walking just two. Unfortunately for Sadzeck and Spokane, the game still had seven innings left. Salem-Keizer scored once in the eighth to tie the game and again in the 13th as they defeated Spokane 2-1 in front of 6,857 fans at Avista Stadium.
Sadzeck has been nearly untouchable in his last two starts, allowing just one hit and no earned runs over 12 innings. The Rangers' 11th round pick in the 2011 draft has been particularly potent at home this year, where he has yielded just 11 hits in 34 frames at Avista Stadium while posting a preposterous 0.79 ERA.
Though charged with the loss, Carlos Melo (1-2) gave the Indians every chance to nab a dramatic victory, striking out four over a season-high 4.1 frames.
