What Washington coach Steve Sarkisian saw leave the state during the recruiting showdowns of 2012 might be countered by what the Huskies were able to land in California.
And no signing was bigger on Wednesday than the Huskies grabbing safety Shaq Thompson out of Sacramento's Grant High School.
Washington's 25-man signing class wasn't complete until late in the afternoon once Denver-area quarterback Cyler Miles and Los Angeles cornerback Brandon Beaver sent their letters of intent. Miles was an early Washington verbal commitment but was considering USC late in the process.
The duo buoyed a class where improving the Huskies secondary was a focus and landing Thompson was huge. Thompson was considered the top safety in the country.
Only five of the Huskies' 25 signings are from Washington.
