The high school baseball playoffs got underway in Washington on Tuesday.

There are four 4A teams playing for three spots to regionals. Third seeded Ferris beat fourth seed Central Valley, 3-0 on Tuesday. Michael Renner threw a no hitter for the Saxons. It's a best of three game series with game two being played on Thursday at Avista Stadium. If Central Valley loses, it's season comes to an end.

The other 4A district match-up is between top seeded Mead and second seed Gonzaga Prep. Both teams have advanced to regionals, so this series is just for seeding purposes. The Panthers won the first game, 5-3. The Bullpups raced out to a 3-0 first inning lead, but couldn't hold on for the win. Game two of this series is also on Thursday at Avista.

In 3A, Mt. Spokane has already clinched the top seed to regionals leaving University and Shadle Park fighting for the second seed. The Highlanders won the first of two games between the teams on Tuesday, 3-2. The Titans rebounded to take game two, 12-3. The third, and deciding game, will be Wednesday at four at Shadle Park.

In GNL action, West Valley beat Deer Park, 5-3 in loser-out play. Cheney topped Pullman, also in loser out action. The Eagles will now play East Valley, while Cheney travels to Clarkston.

Also in GSL softball action, University beat Mt. Spokane, 8-6. KXLY's Ben Kaplan has highlights from the day's action.
