HS Round-Up: Saturday, 11-17
HS FOOTBALL (WA)
Bellarmine Prep 32, Gonzaga Prep 29 - Gonzaga Prep took its first lead of the game on a 28 yard touchdown run by Griffin Hare to give the Bullpups a 22-21 lead, but Bellarmine Prep kicked a game winning field goal with under 10 seconds to play to beat GPrep 32-29 and advance to the 4A state semi-finals.
Auburn 21, Mead 7 - In a match-up of two very similar styles, Auburn proved to be the better team, beating Mead 21-7 in the 4A state quarterfinals. The Panthers were shutout until the 4th quarter when they cut the deficit to 14-7.
University 23, North Thurston 13 - University jumped out to a 21-0 lead and held on from there, beating North Thurston 23-13 in a 3A state quarterfinal game at University High School on Saturday.
Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 21, DeSales 14 - The Broncos trailed 7-0 in the second quarter, but answered with 21-straight points on route to a 21-14 win over DeSales in the 2B quarterfinals on Saturday.
HS GIRLS SOCCER (WA)
Columbia River 2, Mt. Spokane 1 - The Wildcats dream season came to an end in the 3A state title game as Columbia River captured a 2-1 victory. Alyssa Lloyd scored the lone goal for Mt. Spokane, who finishes the season 20-1.
HS BOYS SOCCER (WA)
Northwest Christian 4, St. George's 0 - Fourth time is a charm for NW Christian, who beat St. George's for the first time in four tries this season, 4-0. Jacob Weaver had three goals for the Crusaders, who captured the 1B/2B state title.
