SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga University’s men’s basketball team remained 14th in both the Associated Press and USA Today/ESPN Top 25 polls.
The Bulldogs downed Kansas State University 68-52 in the Battle in Seattle last Saturday in their only game of the week.
Gonzaga has been ranked every week this season and was 10th two weeks ago until falling to 14th after suffering its first loss of the season against the University of Illinois, which remained 10th in both polls.
The Zags trail No. 13 University of Minnesota by 20 points in the AP voting and No. 13 Creighton University by 12 points in the USA Today/ESPN vote by the coaches.
Duke University took over the top spot in both polls after Butler University upended former No. 1 Indiana University which held the top spot for six weeks.
Butler, who the Bulldogs visit Jan. 17 for ESPN’s College Game Day from legendary Hinkle Fieldhouse, moved into the AP poll at No. 19 and into the USA Today/ESPN rankings at No. 25.
Oklahoma State University, who the Bulldogs visit New Year’s Eve, is ranked 24th in both polls.
Gonzaga’s last action prior to Christmas break will be Wednesday when Campbell University visits the McCarthey Athletic Center for a 6 p.m. contest.
