CHENEY, Wash. -

For the fifth straight year, Cheney hosted the Eastern Washington Special Olympics on Saturday.

Organizers say that between 500 and 600 participants competed in Athletics (track and field events), Swimming, Weight Lifting and Cycling.

Earl Overlie, the event's volunteer coordinator, estimates that about 150 volunteers helped make the day possible.

The summer games will be held June 1-3 at Joint Base Lewis McChord
