The Carolina Panthers have now secured their top two targets from their own free-agent pool this offseason. Just two days after the Panthers locked up cornerback Captain Munnerlyn for another year, the Panthers and veteran defensive tackle Dwan Edwards agreed on a deal that would keep Edwards with the team for at least the 2013 season, according to two league sources. Edwards was in Miami on Thursday and Friday visiting with the Dolphins, and terms of the deal with Carolina were not disclosed. The Panthers offered Edwards a one-year, $1.5 million deal at the start of free agency that he rejected, looking instead for a longer, more lucrative deal rather than a facsimile of the one he signed when he came to Carolina. "I definitely feel like I overachieved for what I signed for," Edwards said in an interview with the Observer last week. "I feel like I have a lot left in the tank. I played hurt and did the best I could for a young team."
