The Tri-City Americans beat the Spokane Chiefs 3-2 in game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals in Kennewick Wednesday night. The Chiefs season ends, while the Americans will play Portland in the WHL Western Conference Finals.
Spokane took a 2-1 lead in the third period on Mitch Holmberg's 11th goal of the playoffs. But the Americans responded with two goals of their own, capped off by Brendan Shinnimin's game winner at 15:42 into the third.
Eric Williams was awesome in net for Spokane, stopping 45 shots. Americans goalie Ty Rimmer wasn't under nearly as much pressure, facing just 19 shots in the game.
