All three GSL girls soccer teams advance to state quarterfinals
Mt. Spokane, Mead and Central Valley all won their first round match-ups in the girls state soccer tournament on Tuesday.
The Wildcats (18-0) jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to goals by Carly Frank and Sierra Bezdicek on route to a 2-1 win over Enumclaw at Spokane Falls Community College. The Hornets scored late in the first half when Katie Christensen found the back of the net. They nearly tied the game in the closing minutes when Cayla Dahl's shot hit the cross-bar. Mt. Spokane will face Kamiakin in the 3A quarterfinals. The Wildcats beat the Braves 2-0 last Tuesday.
Mead also fell behind in its first round game against Kentridge, but scored the final three goals in a 3-1 win at University High School. The Panthers advance to the 4A quarterfinals where they'll travel to the winner of Wednesday's game between Camas and Moses Lake.
