MANY PEOPLE ARE STILL DEALING WITH STORM DAMAGE REPAIRS.
ALMOST TWO MONTHS AFTER THE FIRST STORM HIT.
THE ROOF OF THE FIVE MILE PRARIE GRANGE WAS TORN OFF.
AFTER A SECOND STORM ON AUGUST SECOND.
THE PRARIE GRANGE IS LOCATED ON THE NORTHWEST CORNER
OF FIVE MILE ROAD AND STRONG ROAD.
KXLY 4'S CAITI CURREY IS WORKING FOR YOU WITH DETAILS
ON THE LONG REPAIR PROCESS.
the prarie grange has been a staple in this community
for decades and after the storm his on August second,
it's future was in jeopardy.
SINCE 1929 THE 5-MILE PRARIE GRANGE HAS BEEN A HUB
FOR COMMUNITY CELEBRATIONS, WEDDINGS AND EVERYTHING
SO TO THIS COMMUNITY REPAIRING THE OLD BUILDING.
WAS NOT A QUESTION OF IF, BUT A QUESTION OF WHEN.
NO INTERIOR DAMAGE WAS CAUSED FROM THE STORM, BUT
THE ENTIRE ROOF DID HAVE TO BE REPLACED.
BUILDING MANAGERS SAY INSURANCE TOOK CARE OF THE COST.
AND THEY ONLY EXPERIENCED SOME SETBACKS.
A week ago Monday we got here to go to work and they
came and took our lumber pack over the weekend which
THIEVES GOT AWAY WITH NEARLY TWO-THOUSAND DOLLARS
IN STOLEN LUMBER.
LUCKILY, THAT TOO WAS INSURED.
WITH SOME ADDED UPGRADES TO THE ROOF.
LIKE HURRICANE STRAPS.
THE BUILDING IS ON TRACK TO BE THE STURDIEST IT HAS
EVER BEEN IT'S 101 YEARS.
It'll take the whole building down before it takes
the roof off next time.
DESPITE TAKING NEARLY TWO MONTHS FOR THE BUILDING
TO BE REPAIRED.
BUILDING MANAGERS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CONTINUE TO RENT
THE BUILDING IS EXPECTED TO BE FULLY REPAIRED BY THE
END OF NEXT WEEK.
The Prarie Grange is holding their biggest fundraiser,
this Saturday from 8-3.
It's a family fun and it will include everything from
live music to a car show.
