SPOKANE, Wash. - One Spokane woman is cashing in on coupons and taking the savings to a whole new level.
"It's definitely changed my perspective on things, a dollar doesn't have to be a dollar you can stretch it a lot farther," coupon clipper Tammilee Tillison said.
But it wasn't always that way. "I found out the week of our wedding that I was losing my job. I had to find a way to save money," Tillison said.
Then she got an idea that changed her life. "So I thought I would try it. The first time I saved a quarter," Tillison said.
Three years later she has a pantry stocked with cereal, pasta, sauces and more. This vegetarian says it's not all junk food either. "I'm able to buy organic food, I'm able to buy different veggie meats," Tillison said.
Tammilee Tillison is now famous after being on TLC's hit show, "Extreme Couponing," in May. "It's just expanding and changing how you shop, being much more strategic," Tillison said.
Tammilee and her husband are putting that extra cash to good use now. "It paid for three weeks in the Caribbean last year. It paid for a European cruise." The Tillison's estimated that they saved $10,000 dollars last year alone.
She's passing along her wisdom to others. "We teach free classes, we want to help as many people as we can in the Spokane area," Tillison said.
Tammilee has a coupon class at the Spokane Valley Library on September 23rd at 6:30 p.m. You can RSVP to the event on her facebook page or by email. You can find out all the information on her blog, tammileetips.com, where she also gives advice and tips on how to save money.
