SPOKANE, Wash. -

A Washington State Patrol vehicle was hit Thursday morning by a drunk driver.

Paul Wanzenried, 43, was traveling southbound on Ash in the WSP vehicle when he was hit by 34-year-old Christopher Sutton who was traveling westbound on Maxwell.

Wanzenried ran a red light just after 11 p.m. and was hit by Sutton in the intersection.

Wanzenried was sent to Sacred Heart and released.

Sutton was charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license and hit and run.
