Okanogan, Wash. -

The victim in a homicide investigation out of Okanogan County on Cow Camp Road on Pontiac Ridge has been identified as 52-year-old Michael Carrigan.

Carrigan was grouse hunting with George Stover, 65, when Stover says he was shot. Stover says Carrigan saw a grouse, went to shoot it and a separate shot came from somewhere unseen.

Stover says he saw blood on Carrigan and drove away to get help.

When Okanogan County Sheriff's Office deputies arrived, he was pronounced dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound.

An autopsy is scheduled for Carrigan Wednesday. The investigation is still ongoing.
