A Spokane man has pleaded guilty to starting a fire that damaged a downtown Pullman motel earlier this summer.
William Young II, 39, pleaded guilty Friday to second-degree felony arson in Whitman County Superior Court. Judge David Frazier then sentenced him to six month in jail.
Young set his room on fire at the American Travel Inn on Grand Avenue in Pullman on July 19. Young was found the next day wandering in north Whitman County and Whitman County Prosecutor believes Young was strung out on methamphetamine at the time.
The fire caused approximately $90,000 in damage to three guest rooms and Young was also ordered to pay $1,000 in restitution to the motel to cover the insurance deductible for the fire.
Young was in Pullman town working on a north Pullman apartment complex with a Spokane construction firm at the time of the fire.
