Spokane Int'l prepares to finalize plans for the next 20 years
Spokane International Airport is planning for the future and preparing to finalize its 20-year Master Plan.
The airport has been working on the Master Plan for two years. In the future, some significant changes to the airport could include new terminal configurations like consolidating baggage claim into one area and moving the rental car section to the second floor. A future runway is also in the works.
Airport passengers have their own ideas on what they'd like to see change. "I think it's a little plain. I think it could use a little updating as far as decor," traveler Terri Stifanick said.
"I would like it easier drop off and pick up vehicles like the shuttles aren't convenient," traveler Colleen Hamill said.
If you want to weigh in, there are three upcoming opening houses. You can drop in anytime between 4:00-7:00 pm.
May 14, 2013 - DoubleTree Hotel, Downtown Spokane
May 15, 2013 - Mirabeau Park Hotel, Spokane Valley
May 16, 2013 - Pence Union Building on the EWU Campus
This will be the last opportunity for the public to comment on the plans. The airport will then submit the final report to the FAA for approval, which could take some time. Approval from the Airport Board is needed as well as the city and county.
