The Spokane housing market is the strongest it's been in years.
If you are trying to sell your home, you're in luck. Melissa Murphy with the Prime Real Estate group in downtown Spokane says right now it is a seller's market.
"Through the distressed market we were once in 5 years ago, we are noticing that this is recovering market," she said.
It's a big improvement from previous years. The Spokane Association of Realtors says the median home price in may was $200,000, up 14.3 percent from the same month last year.
Murphy says one of the reasons is because more people than ever are moving to Spokane.
"Right now, Washington has seen more in-migration. People are coming to Spokane. It's a hot spot for retirees. People can live and work anywhere and choose quality of life here," Murphy said.
She says prices in this region remain affordable.
"If you make $50,000 in Spokane, in order to experience the same quality of life in Seattle, you would have to make $72,000. If you compare and contrast the two, you can get so much more here," Murphy said.
She says the market will continue to strengthen, not only in Washington but nationwide.
"I would say this is a national trend albeit there are some stronger growths than others. Washington is leading the trend in quality of life and affordability," Murphy said.
