SPOKANE, Wash. -

Spokane County Sheriff's Office Major Crime Detectives are investigating the death of an infant at a home in the 19600 block of East Wellesley in Spokane County.

Medical personnel were dispatched on Monday morning for a report of a baby not breathing. The infant was given medical treatment and transported to a hospital where he was declared dead.

Deputies and Major Crimes Detectives were called to the scene due to the questionable circumstance and the filthy living conditions inside the home.

Deputies were told the family returned from a party on Sunday night. The parents fell asleep in the living room with the infant while their 11-year-old son went to sleep in his bedroom. When the parents awoke, they found the infant not breathing and called 911.

A search warrant was obtained and detectives were on scene Monday processing evidence and conducting interviews.

The 11-year-old son was placed with Child Protective Services while investigators determine if criminal charges are warranted.

The Medical Examiner's Office will release info about the cause and manner of death.
