SPOKANE, Wash. -

If you have a parking ticket or two or ten that you have let go, the fines and fees may seem pretty insurmountable, but we have good news. The City of Spokane will let you pay them all off at face value with their parking ticket amnesty program.

The city is bringing back the boot and tow program to deal with chronic parking violators, so they're now offering up this opportunity to clear your record.

Last year the city took a hard look at outstanding downtown parking tickets -- there's more than 75,000 that add up to close to $4 Million in unpaid fees -- so the boot is coming back.

"But as we do that realizing that we haven't had these rules before, this is the balance between imposing new rules and at the same time enhancing the parking experience for those coming to our downtown," Spokane Mayor David Condon said.

So here's what's going to happen. If you have more than four unpaid parking tickets in collections and you don't pay them off, at face value, before the amnesty program ends June 30 if you park downtown your car will get booted. If you don't clear up your entire parking mess within 48 hours of your car getting booted your car will get impounded.

Necole Flerchinger is opening a bar downtown and dealing with the frustrations of parking there.

"It's really hard when you're knee deep in construction to remember to go out and plug the meter," she explained.

Since she started her project, 15 Underground, she's racked up more than $300 in tickets. Her business partners have it even worse.

"We have all gotten to the point where we quit paying, like "I am going to get a ticket anyway, I may as well just park and take it,'" she said.

She was glad to hear about the amnesty program and she'll take advantage of it, but wants more from the city.

"As a bar owner I want customers to come down here and so often that's someone's first complaint is 'Well it's downtown, parking is rough, there's no where to park' you know so that is hard," she said.
