SPOKANE, Wash. -

Whether you wanted to buy a Barbie or a board game, lots of people hit the stores early to score some great Black Friday deals.

You've heard the saying 'The early bird gets the worm.' Well, on Black Friday, that's definitely the case as an estimated 33 million Americans hit the malls across the country to shop for great bargains the day after Thanksgiving.

With the fewest shopping days between Thanksgiving and Christmas in a decade stores are rolling out killer deals. Since 8 p.m. Thursday shoppers have been flocking to Target, which is open 27 hours straight.

"It's been incredibly exciting; this is one of the best times of year for retail. We did open up an hour earlier than last year and sales are about 20-percent percent better than last year," Target manager Katy Gaddis said.

Once again this year electronics and toys are the big sellers.
