SPOKANE, Wash. -

The Spokane City Council is cashing in on school zone traffic cameras.

There are cameras at Longfellow and Finch Elementary Schools, and between the two Spokane City Council is expecting to collect $1 million in fines this year.

The new officers will help battle the property crime problem in the area along with working at the schools to help with traffic in the morning.

City council is looking into installing additional cameras at other Spokane schools next year.
