WALLA WALLA, Wash. -

An investigative report shows that Walla Walla County Sheriff's deputy, who was put on leave last summer, failed to disclose a romantic relationship with a woman being considered as a reserve deputy recruit.

Sheriff John Turner, citing personnel policy, had declined to say publicly at the time why Gerrod Martin was placed on administrative leave in May.

The Union Bulletin and others filed public records requests seeking the information. The newspaper reports that last month, a Walla Walla Superior Court judge ordered the report's release but granted numerous redactions requested by Martin.

Martin, then the sheriff's chief operations deputy, resigned in July after reaching a severance agreement with the county.
