SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -

A Spokane Valley homeowner confronted a man inside his garage Wednesday who claimed he was looking for Safeway. The homeowner told the man Safeway was not inside his garage.

The incident happened in a home in the 15200 block of East 22nd Court. According to the Spokane County Sheriff's Office, the homeowner had been outside in his home and went inside and when he came back out found a man standing in his garage next to his refrigerator.

When asked what he was doing the man said Safeway wasn't in his garage, to which the homeowner politely told him the grocery store wasn't in his garage. The suspect, who was about 6 feet tall with a light build and blond hair, walked up to a Toyota pickup truck parked in the resident's driveway and drove away.

The homeowner followed the truck and wrote down the license plate number which he turned over to authorities. A deputy checked the license plate and confirmed the vehicle was stolen.

Anyone with information possibly identifying this suspect is asked to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233.
