SPOKANE, Wash. -

Spokane police are investigating an accident between a motor vehicle and three pedestrians.

It happened around 7 p.m. Friday night. A mother and her son and daughter were crossing Monroe between Montgomery and Mansfield when they were struck by a driver and thrown into the air, according to witnesses.

The mother and daughter were transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The son was also transported with serious injuries. Their ages have not been released, but witnesses on the scene say both children appeared to be under the age of 10.

The driver of the vehicle stopped not far from the scene of the crash and returned to cooperate with police.

At this time neither speed nor intoxication appear to be a factor in the collision.
