SPOKANE, Wash. -

Spokane Police arrested a man Friday who allegedly kidnapped someone from Sioux City, Iowa and drove them back to Spokane.

George Rosenbaum, 34, was arrested after a brief car chase and subsequent foot pursuit after he crashed his car Friday afternoon.

Around 11:30 a.m. Friday a person called 9-1-1 to report they had been kidnapped in Sioux City and driven back to Spokane. They also told police they had been assaulted during the drive back to Spokane.

When Rosenbaum pulled into a gas station at the intersection of 3rd and Thor the victim escaped from the vehicle and called 9-1-1.

Officers responded to the scene, located Rosenbaum's vehicle and attempted to stop him by blocking traffic. Rosenbaum was able to drive away but soon wrecked his car near the intersection of N. Greene St. and Riverside Ave. He got out and fled on foot but was apprehended.

Rosenbaum was booked into the Spokane County Jail on charges of 1st Degree Kidnapping and 1st Degree Robbery.
