SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -

One person is dead following a serious crash involving a motorcycle and pickup truck. Spokane Valley police were called to the 5200 block of East Broadway around 4:25 p.m. Saturday.

Deputies say a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was speeding eastbound on Broadway and the pickup truck was driving westbound. They say as the truck was turning across eastbound lanes, the man riding the motorcycle laid it down, but continued to slide and hit the truck.

The motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene. The man driving the truck was uninjured and is cooperating with investigators.

Spokane Valley Traffic Collision Technicians were called to the scene and are continuing the investigation. They believe speed was a factor in the fatal crash.

The driver of the truck has not been charged at this time, but officials say this is an ongoing investigation as they interview witnesses and process the scene. They ask anyone who witnessed the crash to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233.

The name of the man killed will be released by the Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office.
