SPOKANE, Wash. -

The Spokane County Medical Examiner has confirmed a Montana woman died from a gunshot wound but said the manner of her death was pending.

Rita Maze, 47, was found dead in the trunk of her Pontiac Grand Prix Wednesday near the Spokane International Airport. She had reported to police earlier that she had been abducted from a rest stop between Helena and Great Falls, MT.

The medical examiner's report says that her manner of death is pending because they are deferring the determination until the investigation into Maze's death has been completed, including laboratory studies, such as toxicology tests.

The investigation into her death remains underway and is being conducted by the Spokane County Sheriff's Office.
