It's been a week since the dramatic rescue of a man whose foot was caught in machinery at the Purina feed plant and David Olinger is continuing his recovery from that horrible accident.
Olinger, 29, had his leg wrapped around an auger and firefighters raced to keep him from bleeding to death while doctors were forced to perform an on-site amputation of his leg to save him.
Olinger is still in the hospital but he'd rather be on the football field with his kids. He's a Spokane Valley Pop Warner football coach and the organization has been fundraising for him, passing the helmet at weekend games.
So far $6,500 has been collected. You can make a donation to the David Olinger Benefit Fund at any branch of Mountain West Bank.
