WHITMAN COUNTY, Wash. -

The Lacrosse man accused of causing a 2011 car accident that seriously injured two people, including a Whtiman County Sheriff's Office sargeant, has pleaded guilty.

Richard Lee-Waddell, 21, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor reckless driving in Whitman County Superior Court Wednesday.

Lee-Waddell was sentenced to a month in jail, fined $700, placed on probation for year and ordered to pay restitution to the victims. He was dribing a sedan recklessly in September of 2011 when he struck Sargeant Jodi Hamilton's patrol car near the fairgrounds outside Colfax.

Hamilton and her passenger Cody Rankin were both injured in the crash. Hamilton's injuries forced her into retirement.

A trial against Lee-Waddell fro two counts of felony vehicular assault ended with a hung jury last fall.
