Daniel Abell, the Lincoln County man who turned himself in for child rape made his first court appearance Tuesday.
Abell, who is on leave from his job as a bus driver with the Davenport School District, is charged with child rape, child molestation and incest.
In court Tuesday Abell denied nothing, sided with all the prosecutor's requested and even said he needed to be in jail.
"I'm a danger to no one except myself, but I do not dispute that I should um, have a high bail," Abell said in court.
His bail was set at $75,000.
Abell, 54, was arrested last Wednesday at his home. Deputies were initially called because his wife was worried he might be suicidal. According to court documents when deputies arrived he started referencing a criminal investigation.
He told deputies that he had to turn himself in for having a sexually inappropriate relationship. Court documents show the victims are family members and the abuse went of for "quite some time."
None of the acts alleged have taken place as part of Abell's role as a bus driver.
If he makes bail, he'll need to submit to the court where he is living and is ordered to not contact the victims.
